Chongqing from Bangkok: four airlines fly direct, and the metro now speaks Thai

Chongqing is now one of the easiest Chinese cities to reach from Thailand. Direct flights take about three hours, Thai passport holders enter visa-free for up to 30 days, and from 29 September 2026 three central metro stations announce in Chinese, English and Thai.

Direct flights (as of 4 October 2026)

Airline Bangkok airport Notes
Thai AirAsia Don Mueang (DMK) Morning and afternoon departures
Thai Lion Air Don Mueang (DMK) Late-evening departure, arriving after midnight; not daily until late December
Chongqing Airlines Suvarnabhumi (BKK) Daily again from 25 October 2026
China West Air Suvarnabhumi (BKK) Daily from 12 October 2026

Schedules change with the winter timetable at the end of October, so check the airline before booking. Bangkok flights use Terminal 3 at Chongqing Jiangbei Airport.

Thai on the metro

The Thai announcements run at Chaotianmen, Xiaoshizi and Liziba, the stations for Raffles City, Hongyadong, the Yangtze River Cableway and the famous monorail through a building.

Why Thai travellers are going

On Trip.com, Chongqing was the fastest-growing China destination for Thai travellers in 2025. The draw is the night views, hotpot and film locations such as Better Days, all within one city and a short flight.
