Guilin in Guangxi is known for its limestone karst peaks and the Li River, whose scenery appears on China's 20-yuan note. Most visitors cruise the river to Yangshuo and stay in the countryside among the peaks.

Getting there and around

  • High-speed trains connect Guilin with Yangshuo in about 30 minutes and with Guangzhou in about 3 hours.
  • The Li River cruise runs from Guilin to Yangshuo.
  • A private car is easiest for the rice terraces.
