  • Prayer times and nearby mosques
  • Muslim guides where available
02

Quanzhou and the maritime Silk Road

“We want a journey with meaning, not just sights.”

Quanzhou in Fujian was a great port of the maritime Silk Road, where Arab and Persian merchants lived and traded. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its Qingjing Mosque is one of the oldest in China.

  • Halal dining in Quanzhou
03

  • Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter visit
  • Terracotta Warriors
  • Halal food tour
04

  • Hui family meal
05

Dunhuang and the Hexi Corridor

You get
  • Route through Gansu with halal dining
  • Mogao Caves booking
  • Private car and guide

Good to know

  • Halal availability varies by city. Northwest China, Xi'an, Beijing and Guangzhou are easiest; elsewhere we plan every meal in advance.
  • Mosque visits follow each mosque's rules on dress and visiting times. We check before you go.

Questions

Is China good for Muslim travellers?

Yes, with planning. China has around ten ethnic groups that are mainly Muslim and thousands of mosques. Cities such as Xi'an, Beijing and Guangzhou have many halal restaurants, and we plan every meal and prayer time elsewhere.

Why visit Quanzhou?

Quanzhou was a major port of the maritime Silk Road where Arab and Persian traders settled. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has one of China's oldest mosques, the Qingjing Mosque.

Where is the best halal food in China?

Xi'an's Muslim Quarter, Niujie in Beijing, Lanzhou for beef noodles, and Ningxia for Hui cooking are among the best.
